Being that I work with a technology that centers heavily on prepaid accounts and micro-transaction processing (using your card to buy a pea pod instead of an iPod), I try to keep my eyes open to what people are doing with prepaid cards in different spaces.
The Indy Star has an article on "allowance cards" that sound like a great idea for parents to use in teaching their kids to be responsible with money. The feature I like best is the "tracking" feature, which lets parents and kids sit down and discuss where all the expenditures went, and maybe open up a dialogue on spending versus saving, and the like. Give it a
read and let me know what
you think.
